New Year, New Beginnings
I'm joining Weight Watchers. I'm tired of the extra weight; I've gained 25 lbs since summer of 2001. Most of it has been stress eating, so I know that this will mostly be a psychological battle of my will--not to eat, and to get enough exercise. For Christmas, my husband gave me a gift certificate for one month at a new workout place nearby. That starts Jan. 2. It gives me a sense of a lot of moral support from him!
I'm also hoping that losing wieght will help my blood pressure go down. It's not dangerously high, but my doctor said over the long run, it will stress my system enough to be a problem. So I started on bp meds over the summer, and they made me terribly sleepy. So we tried another variety, and I just have a low grade weariness. That's not very helpful either. So I made another appointment with him to discuss options. When I weighed 25 lbs less, my bp was still the same. So, I'm not sure how much more I'd need to lose to have it make a difference. Accodring to WW, I should go down at least the 25 lbs; other research says I should lose a total of 45-50 lbs for my height. Siiiigh. That's a lot of work, a lot of discipline, over the loooong haul. It's got to be life-style changes, not a "quick-fix" approach. I figured WW would give me the support group to keep me going.

so far so good, my sweet friend--I'm down 2.5 pounds already! But it's the long haul that matters. Thanks so much for your encouragement. <3 <3
